I am very happy with this mattress protector. It is a comfortable terrycloth material in top and a light plasticy feeling material on the bottom which makes it waterproof. My main priority for wanting a mattress protector is to prolong the life of my mattress. Your mattress is a big investment so the longer you can keep it in perfect condition the better. This is not a protector against bed bugs, you would need one that will zip all the way around your mattress for that purpose. This goes on like a fitted sheet, but of course goes underneath the fitted sheet. Overall, I like this product and am glad to have it.
